More Life, More Everything! - Swish Freestyle [Free D/L]

In october the studio debut Mind's Eye dropped officially on all digital stores and that was the debut after a long 4 year break. "Another one" refers to the Jaymaggs Freestyle titled Swish that was published on the 27th of November.Basically swish is an appreciation for the people that supported Mind's Eye, hence it was a swish! The projections from iTunes indicates about 1500 downloads and over 3000 plays via Amazon and iTunes as well as Spotify.

If you are reading this we would like to tell you that Mind's Eye is officially a hit. many were skeptical as the flows were switched up and after lots of thought the Jaymaggs Rebirth EP will be coming out Early 2018. To the loyal followers they have known how far back the journey started and still pushing on.

Currently featured on Slikour Onlife, this song surely should mark a win for the year. With lots of people who were waiting for the comeback from the Jump, this is probably a good follow-up

BUDGET SPEECH FREESTYLE OUT 1 OCTOBER 2014

The year is coming to an end and what better way to end it with a "Budget Speech". Literally refering to other accomplishments besides music this is a track that will help you to understand why the brand JayMaggs is a little silent.

Also addressing haters on the fore-front and settling the score with social commentators (well-self proclaimed) that had a lot to say about music when JayMaggs featured on ShizzNizz Mixtape King competition and did'nt go through.

The mixtape "Born for fame"  did not drop because JayMaggs had other commitments to look into of which many were left wondering why nothing dropped.

So this is a freestyle that will address the instigators of smack talk. Basically the track is based on Lil'waynes "Money on My Mind". Displaying some flamboyant punchlines and smooth delivery this track will probably settle the score on everything.

As a commercial rapper, one has to handle his own and what better response than a record! This track is due for release on the 1st of October 2014.

Managers & Upcoming Artists | Who to trust!

Looking for a manager for your music? Lets talk Hip hop

When you meet up with artists usually from the underground scene, you would hear the terms "Im a manager" and "I need a manager" quite often.

So thing is do you really need a manager to be successful? Do  you need them to get you gigs? Sponsorship? My answer? BULLSHIT!

Personally from experience being in the mainstream had its weight on me, especially when radio stations and television stations ask you whether you have a managerial rep.

Regardless a manager is a mediator and for the most bit they will have a fair share of your slice and con you off your earnings. They might have connections but the talent is yours and half the time they will ask for a bribe and only to find out that the gig was free.

How to break the cycle.

Really consider drawing up a contract and agreement between you and your manager, control all your paperwork and register your music at SAMRO by yourself.

When you do gigs sit in the meetings, do not lay back because you will perform for R2000 and yet yo slice was R10000.

When getting endorsements read contracts and profit sharing properly, dont just trust and agree where you have doubts.

Do's and Donts

Don't  enter a verbal contract write down an agreement
Don't let a manager do your royalty check with SAMRO
Don't bribe a manager to get you gigs he works for you not the other way around.
Don't allow to open for an act when  you have not been paid, money first basis works well.

Do research
Do register your own music
Do ask as many questions as you can
Do enquire about your prospective manager with regards to past work he has done.

Basically what im saying is there are many ways to put yourself out there, social media works wonders do not be fooled into being told you will not make it alone. It will take time but you will get there.

If you do consider a manager get a reputable one with a track record. A good one! Golden rule: Do not trust a manager who walks and blurbs about everything he dont have.

Decided to put this out there as I was once a victim and as an artist educate your self and avoid being ripped off, by the way this also applies to major record labels.

JayMaggs On ShizzNizz (Craz-e)

Mixtape King Contestant June | ShizzNizz

We are back with a super blog and this time its to inform you that our "Star boy" Jay is on ShizzNizz as a mixtape king contestant on the hit show series ShizzNizz that plays on Tuesdays between 4pm and 4:30. 

Also considering that it came at a time when the JayMaggs brand was on vacation, its a blessing that the call from Morena came in and he was like "Yo, Jay is on!"

What is this Mixtape King thingie anyway?

Well the competition basically is straight forward. Its a competition where-by the contestants for the month (usually 2) come and perform a track on the show and viewers vote for the best contestant of the month.

Then the other finalists who win the rounds for each month battle it out for the top spot in Nov to win a prize money.

Jay is already up for June and in the next article we will tell you exactly how to vote. We will also publish the details on where to send the vote.

JAYMAGGS MAKES THE CUT AS THE PLATFORM SA HIRES A HIT! 

If you didnt know well now you know. JayMaggs has been selected as a contestant on the upcoming television show "The Platform SA"

What is it About?

“The Platform” will serve to bridge this gap and will see ordinary people a step closer to realizing their dreams.

The show aims to discover, mentor and nourish raw talent while grooming sustainable products.

“The Platform Show” will provide the center stage to shine, to showcase talent, to be a star and possibly conquer the music industry.

Role of Ambassodors

The Platform Ambassadors serve to promote The Platform Show. The girls will be doing activations at the different venues where the show will be recorded and around Gauteng These activations will serve as a build up towards the live shows, as well as to create hype around show.

The girls will be giving away prizes to lucky winners who manage to post a picture onto any of our social media networks).
